Who are Young Carers:-

  A Young Carer is a person under 18 who has caring responsibilities within his or her family. This generally involves helping to look after a parent or sibling who has a long-term illness, disability, or addiction. A Young Carer is defined as a child or young person who is undertaking a caring role for a family member with a long-term or terminal illness or disability. Young Carers include

  • An 8-year-old boy helping his mum with household chores because she has MS
  • A 12-year-old girl helping her elder brother who is autistic
  • A 15-year-old boy looking after his younger siblings because his father is an alcoholic
